Product Care

How do I care for my Stanley Rogers product?

Please refer to each product type’s Use and Care Manuals.

Cutlery

Premium 18/10 Stainless Steel

High Quality 18/0 Stainless Steel

What is the difference between Premium 18/10 Stainless Steel and Quality Stainless Steel (also referred to as 18/0)?

Premium 18/10 Stainless Steel refers to the composition of the metal - 18% chromium and 10% nickel. Quality Stainless Steel has 18% chromium but no nickel. Nickel makes the steel whiter in colour and gives a more luminous polish. Both are highly resistant to rust and marking.

How do I remove rust from cutlery?

First step, don’t worry! Second step, simply use a non-scratch scouring pad or cloth and rub length wise to remove the stain. Stainless steel polish, available from your local hardware store, can also be used for more stubborn rust. To avoid rust, always remove cutlery from the dishwasher as soon as the washing cycle is finished and towel dry any remaining moisture.

How can I care for my Titanium Coated Cutlery?

To maintain the beautiful colour and mirror finish we recommend hand washing to keep your cutlery looking good and spotless for years to come. The titanium coating is many times harder and scratch resistant than regular stainless steel however it can still be scratched. Please take care of them so they do not get deep scratched, as deep scratches may go deeper than the coating.

Why does my 18/10 stainless flatware show signs of pitting, staining and rusting? How can I prevent it? Shouldn't 18/10 be resistant to rusting?

When it comes to the stainless-steel composition used in flatware, 18/10 is the very best that you can get. The 18/10 composition contains 18% chromium and 10% nickel. The more nickel material, the more resistant stainless is to corrosion.

However, though the higher concentration of nickel (10%) makes it highly resistant to pitting, staining, and rusting, it does not necessarily guarantee it. It really depends on how you care for the 18/10 quality stainless steel flatware.

Of the stainless flatware set, knives are more susceptible to rust. That's because flatware knives contain a certain amount of carbon steel in the blade construction, which is essential to make the knife blades harder and more durable than they would otherwise be if carbon was left out of the composition. This makes knives more prone to rust and stains, than the rest of the flatware set.

There are several things that can cause stainless steel flatware to rust. Harsh dishwasher detergents can over time, cause staining, especially if coupled with steel wool or abrasive cleaning materials. Be sure to always use a soft cloth or sponge when hand washing. When flatware is left wet in the sink, in the dishwasher or on the counter, acid from food residue can erode the finish and cause rust stains or pitting. Please ensure as per the care instructions, that your cutlery is never left to air dry and is left in the dishwasher to dry, as this is known to cause rust marks.

To remove any of the rust marks you have now, we recommend using a stainless-steel polish on the cutlery with a soft cloth; most of which are available at Bunnings. From then on out, as you do have high-quality cutlery, ensuring proper care of your cutlery will allow for a long life.

Why are my cookware handles hot to touch?

For best results, select the right size hob ring for your cookware piece and position it over the centre. This allows heat to be evenly distributed over the base of the cookware and avoids heat extending up the sides, minimising overheating of the handle and discolouration.

Why is food sticking to my SR-Matrix Frypan?

The hybrid of the stainless steel and non-stick coating makes the pan perform differently to both traditional non-stick and stainless-steel pans. To get the most out of the pan you will need to understand these differences.

Cooking Heat – The TRI-PLY stainless steel needs less heat than aluminium. It gets hot quickly and transfers heat quickly. This means it is easy to get crispy browning on meats, poultry, fish and proteins. For the first few times using the pan, start with a lower heat than you would on other pans and closely observe how things cook.

Non-Stick Performance – There is approximately 15% stainless steel exposed on the cook’s surface. This is what gives the fats heat transfer and browning ability, but it also affects the non-stick performance on the matrix. A small amount of healthy oil like olive oil will help avoid this. Some delicate foods like soft fried eggs or thin pieces of fish may take a bit of practice to get just the way you want them.

Cleaning – Unlike other non-stick pans you can scrub this pan with a non-stick scourer without damaging the non-stick.

Is the Quartz Stone range oven safe?

The Stanley Rogers Quartz Stone fry pan has a soft touch coated silicone handle making it unsuitable for use in the oven. It is not oven safe.
